2022 Word of the Year

Every year since 2011, I have selected a new word to act as a “guiding star” for that year. It serves as a motto or theme for the year and helps me keep myself focused on what matters most to me, for that year.

This year my word is RISE

Why Rise? Well because that is what I intend to do: rise like a phoenix from the ashes. Dust myself off and start again, getting better with each iteration. I am so excited for this year – I have no idea how it is going to turn out – but I am betting on me. Hard.

My hope is that we all RISE UP together and design the fabric of the world we want to live in. This pandemic is changing so much about the world, but with every challenge comes opportunity.

It’s no secret that the world has had a dearth of leadership for quite some time. That is the interesting thing about a void though – at some point something will step in to fill it. The calm of the last two years have given us pause to think. Now it’s time for action. It is time to listen to the small voice and to RISE. The children of the world are watching and waiting for us to be the Heros they have been longing for.

Here is a list of my words from previous years:

  • 2021 – Grit (Keep on Truckin’)
  • 2020 – Wonder
  • 2019 – Healing
  • 2018 – Loslassen (Let Go)
  • 2017 – Peace
  • 2016 – Love / Brave
  • 2015 – Jabulani (Rejoice)
  • 2014 – Grace
  • 2013 – Exploration
  • 2012 – Growth
  • 2011 – Awakening

What words come to mind for you this year? Let me know!

big hugs,
